Let’s Talk Cardio

How much/often/type of cardio I should do is a very common question I get asked. I try to do cardio 6 days a week, not to burn calories, but to create a more positive hormone profile. Sometimes I walk for 20 mins, other times I’ll do HIIT first thing in the morning for full EPOC benefits – max 20 mins. Getting your body moving in the morning releases mood boosting hormones and results in a higher cortisol output. A common mistake is people doing too much – our bodies adapt quickly to repetitive aerobic exercise. It can also down regulate your thyroid function making you less efficient at burning calories and a less than ideal environment for fat loss. The best cardio for you is the one you can maintain for the long run. Try taking it outside and enjoy this beautiful day!!
