Is coffee good or bad? I love coffee and believe it is very good for healthy individuals. It’s high in antioxidants and stimulates your nervous system, which can boost your metabolism and brain function, the ideal pre-workout! However, when dealing with hormone imbalance, it’s best to limit coffee. Caffeine works by affecting your bodies ability to break down adrenaline. Your adrenal glands(aka stress glands), manage your body’s stress. These glands secrete the hormones ephedrine and cortisol. Drinking coffee increases these hormones and in stressed out individuals, this just creates more stress in the body. Being constantly stressed and overstimulating your adrenals is a less than optimal state to be in. Caffeine is also extremely easy to build a tolerance to. Practice moderation so that you keep your body balanced, and when you need that hit, it actually works!
